Rapunzel

This narrative installation by local artist Holly Story delves into the mythology of Rapunzel and the links it shares with canola crops. In the late summer of 2014, walking through canola fields in the company of storytellers, following an ancient pathway, an intuition took hold; that a being untethered from its story is a dangerous thing in this landscape. Rapunzel’s tale and the plant that shared a name became intertwined and Story decided it was timely to bring this canola tale ashore, to seek out the croplands and learn a new grammar.
